First Aid Volunteers
Our volunteers are trained to a high standard in First Aid, enabling them to treat all sorts of injuries from simple Cuts and Bruises to Heart Attacks and Cardiac Arrest. Their first aid knowledge and skills are used to treat casualties at a wide range of events. Our volunteers work as part of a team of providing basic and advanced care including, where required transportation to hospital.
What does it involve?

Training & Probation
You do not require any previous First Aid Knowledge or Experience. Our training staff will ensure you are equipped with the k
nowledge and skills to undertake your role.
As a voluntary first aider, you will be required to attend training evenings. These training evenings are held weekly and usually constitute a period of training lasting two hours per week. We understand that due to work patterns, volunteers will not be able to attend every weekly training session. Your attendance commitment can be discussed with your officer for your first aid unit to ensure you gain the required training.
Once you have met the requirements of the basic training, you can attend public events as a trainee working under supervision of more experienced staff who will help guide you in your probationary period.

Trained First Aider Role
As a trained First Aider, your knowledge and skills will enable you to be able to treat casualties who have sought help. The type of casualties range across the whole
spectrum ranging from small cuts and bruises to more serious conditions such as Heart Attacks, Stroke and Cardiac Arrest.
You may work as part of a first aid team, be the team leader, run the first aid post, operate more advanced equipment, be a part of an ambulance crew, operate the command and control etc.

One of the most important attributes to our Voluntary First Aid Trainers is their commitment. Our courses vary in length from a few hours to several days. It is beneficial for course candidates to have the same trainer for the duration of their course and we would therefore expect volunteer trainers to commit to undertaking a complete course where possible.
Role
As a Volunteer First Aid Trainer, your main role will be to conduct first aid courses for other volunteers within the organisation as well as run courses for the community.
Training
You don't need any previous experience, our training will equip you with the knowledge and skills required to undertake your role.
