HPC Assault Avoidance Course
This course is a must for Health Care Professionals and Local Authority Carers working in the modern health and social care environment where the risk of assault by patients, relatives and bystanders is becoming an ever increasing problem, as well as Teaching Staff where assaults in schools are becoming an ioncreased problem.
Who should attend this course
The HPC Assault Avoidance Course is a one day course designed for the public sector to equip NHS Health Care Professionals and Support Staff, Local Authority Care Staff and Teaching Staff from the public, private and voluntary sector who come into contact with members of the public on a daily or less infrequent period in order to provide services from locations in large hospitals, care homes or schools to community centres and individuals homes.
What does the course cover
The course covers
Assault avoidance beginning with immediate action dynamic risk assessments.
- The Law – in relation to the use of force
- Physical assault avoidance techniques
- Disengagement from assailants
- Safe Systems of Work and patient handling techniques
- Avoidance of Restraint together with its implications

Course Duration
The course has been designed to be delivered in a single day usually from 0900hrs to 1600hrs. The first part of the course covers the theory with the middle and end sections concentrating on physical assault avoidance techniques.
Course Cost
The course is run for organisations with a maximum of 12 candidates per course. The cost per course is £500.00 which equates to approximately £41.00 per candidate
