INSTRUCTOR COURSE

Next Course is to be held on Tuesday 31st of May in South Wales

This course is designed for the experienced AED operator with First Aid Instructional Experience who wishes to become a key team member and expand their instructional portfolio to be able to deliver quality CPR & AED instruction to individuals and organisations.

Instruction is delivered by State Registered Paramedic Resuscitation Training Officers experienced in training Resuscitation and Defibrillation skills.

The instructor course is delivered in three phases over 1 Day:-

Phase 1 - On arrival at the training centre:-

You are assessed on your CPR & AED skills.
You receive in-depth training in CPR training and the use of the AED.

Phase 2

You undertake teaching practice in the delivery of CPR and the use of the AED.

Debrief on your teaching session

Lunch

Phase 3 - Following lunch, candidates will:-

Prepare your lesson plans

Undertake CPR and AED teaching practice
which is formally assessed

Following completion of the course, Successful candidates shall receive a certificate showing competence as a CPR & AED Instructor in the current Resuscitation Council (UK) AED Guidelines.

This course is designed to prepare instructors whio have previous first aid, CPR and AED experience with the skills and knowledge to instruct students in CPR & AED Use and offers a CPR & AED Methods of Instruction Certificate.

Course Availability Acceptance Criteria

Candidates must have the following:

Hold a certificate in AED use (must undertaken a successful assessment in the last 6 months)
Hold a current certificate in First Aid

We recognise that many people are very good at instructing however, they may never have undertaken any formal teacher training or instructional qualifications. Therefore, It is beneficial but not compulsory for candidates to:

Hold a first aid instructor certificate
Hold a City & Guilds 7303 certificate
Hold a Cert Ed / PGCE
Hold other professional teaching qualifications

We understand that good instructors operating in the pre-hospital first aid field may not hold any formal teaching qualifications. we will look at each application on an individual basis.

Courses are allocated on a needs basis. potential candidates will be placed onto a list and contacted when a course is scheduled to go ahead.

Candidate Numbers

Maximum number of candidates per course is restricted to no more than 12 candidates.
